Amit Sharma – Bareilly : The skies over Bareilly are set to come alive with spectacular aerial manoeuvres as the Indian Air Force’s renowned Sarang Helicopter Display Team returns to the city after eight years. The five-day display, scheduled from October 13 to 17, will offer students from schools and colleges, along with invited members of the civil community, a rare opportunity to witness the precision and prowess of military aviation.
Flying the indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv, Sarang is among the world’s few military helicopter aerobatic display teams. Its performances feature intricate close-formation flying, synchronised manoeuvres and remarkable aerial coordination, showcasing the pilots’ exceptional skill, discipline and teamwork.
The team last performed in Bareilly in 2018. Its return is expected to rekindle public enthusiasm for aviation while highlighting the Indian Air Force’s operational excellence and India’s growing indigenous aerospace capabilities. Named after the peacock, Sarang’s vibrant helicopters combine visual spectacle with technical precision. The team has represented the Indian Air Force at prestigious national and international air shows, earning recognition for its distinctive displays.
Beyond the spectacle, the event holds particular significance for young audiences. Watching the helicopters execute complex manoeuvres at close quarters can spark curiosity about aeronautics, science, technology and careers in the armed forces. The display will also underline the importance of coordination, discipline and innovation—qualities central to both military aviation and professional excellence.
With its return to Bareilly, Sarang promises an impressive showcase of indigenous engineering, aerial artistry and the spirit of the Indian Air Force.
