Chief engineer leads symbolic initiative; executive engineer steers collective participation
Amit Sharma/ Bareilly: The Circuit House turned into a sea of light as officials and employees of the Provincial Division of the Public Works Department (PWD) illuminated 11,000 diyas as part of a collective ‘Seva Sankalp’ on Friday.
The initiative, held under the guidance of Chief Engineer C.P. Gupta, carried a message that went beyond symbolism. As rows of flickering lamps illuminated the premises, the gathering reflected the department’s stated commitment to public service, professional responsibility and collective duty.
Superintending Engineer Prakash Chandra and Executive Engineer, Provincial Division, Bhagat Singh were among the senior officials who participated in the programme. Assistant Engineers D.K. Prajapati and P.K. Gangwar, along with Junior Engineers P.K. Bajpai, Rajesh Kumar and Shadab, also joined the initiative.
Sectional assistants Abhishek Agarwal, Jitendra Kumar, Ravi, Gaurav, Abhilasha, Rakshita, Santosh, Madhur, Anil, Pooja, Shahabuddin and Nadeem, besides other staff members and Class IV employees, took part in the event with enthusiasm.
The gathering presented a picture of institutional solidarity, with employees across different levels coming together under one banner. The leadership of C.P. Gupta and the coordination of Bhagat Singh gave the programme a sense of collective purpose, while the participation of the entire departmental team added warmth to the occasion.
The 11,000 lamps symbolised a simple message: when service becomes a shared resolve, every step towards development can become a source of light. As the thursday evening settled over the Circuit House, the glowing diyas appeared to echo a poetic pledge—“Let the lamps of service keep burning, and let the PWD’s journey towards public welfare keep moving forward.”
